The location in a quiet remote area was lovely with a little store and shops nearby. I ate at a particularly good restaurant that served a lovely breakfast. the private bathroom having a bathtub was a plus.

Good food, lovely location and exceptionally friendly staff. This is an ideal location for those who want to get away from a busy lifestyle and just relax.
We came right at the end of the season and there were a lot of little annoyances such as lights that needed replacing which gave a slightly rundown air. I hope these get sorted out during the closed season.

We went for 4 days and stayed for 9 ;-) There are so many reasons that Ao Kao is one of Thailands best kept secrets. One of these reasons stands out over all the rest. What is it? Ao Kao has big comfortable bungalows in the heart of nature overlooking the sea, but this is not the best reason. They have have beautiful white sand beaches that are great for swimming, but that's not the reason either. There is excellent food, an amazing DVD collection, a very interesting environmental beach project and the island feels very safe. Even though all these things already make the stay at Ao Kao worthwhile , it is how warm, fun and genuine the staff are that makes Ao Kao so memorable. Thank you.

I had a really enjoyable experience here, everything was perfect, the location was unbeatable near to the neighbouring island Koh Rayang-beautiful white sand, the most beautiful beach on the island, and the available restaurants around. The room was tastefully decorated and brand-new, with an electric kettle and a refrigerator. The pool was nice and I had carbonated drinks in the outdoor bar.

The location is good comparing with most resorts in the north, although not the best. However, its low price, good service, and delicious food makes it's worth to our time in koh mak.
No wifi in the room, only in the restaurant. Some animals living in the wall.. I felt scared in the night.... No boat provided by the resort and have to rent from the one beside, and no chair on the beach.

Friendly atmosphere on a small beach clean, which unfortunatly is not the case for the beach outside the hotel
As in many small hotels in Thailand , maintenance of equipments dedicated to activities could be improved Many stones in water at low tide
